Sermon Series: The Lord's Prayer
November 2–November 30
"Lord, teach us to pray," the disciples one day asked Jesus (see Luke 11:1). It's the only time in the Gospels when the disciples asked Jesus to teach them something. They could have asked him how to preach, or how to lead, or maybe how to heal the sick and raise the dead. But they didn't. After watching Jesus pray, they asked Jesus to teach them to pray. And in response, Jesus taught and gave them the model of what we now call "the Lord's Prayer."
As disciples and followers of Jesus, prayer is one of our most basic practices; indeed, to be a disciple is to pray. In this sermon series, in the weeks leading up to Advent, we'll be unpacking, learning, and practicing anew the Lord's Prayer.
